Battalion celebrate 25 years in the OHL:
The North Bay Battalion is sporting shoulder patches to mark the franchise’s 25th season in the Ontario Hockey League. The first X is in yellow, marking the 10th season in North Bay, while the second X and the V are in black, denoting the club’s first 15 seasons based in Brampton before relocation in 2013. Rangers set to host Food Drive in partnership with Rogers tv on Friday:
The Kitchener Rangers, in partnership with Rogers tv, are collecting non-perishable food items to support The Food Bank of Waterloo Region on Friday. Fans can donate their non-perishable food items at the Rogers tv vehicles outside Door 7 and Door 13 entrances at The Aud.
Storm set to host Food Drive in support of the Guelph Food Bank Saturday:
The Guelph storm is set to host Brent Johnson of Wayne Pitman Ford Lincoln’s annual Food Drive in support of the Guelph Food Bank on Saturday. Volunteers will be on hand at the entrance to collect non -perishable food items or cash donations in support of the Guelph Food Bank. For every food item donated, fans will receive a raffle ticket that will be entered into a draw for the chance to win one of five great prizes. Last season with all that was collected, along with some cash donations over 1,800 meals were provided for the Guelph Food Bank. More at guelphstorm.com
Otters set to host Pucks and Paws game on Saturday:
The Erie Otters will be hosting their Pucks and Paws game on Saturday, where the first 1000 fans through the doors will be receiving a free PNC Collapsible Dog Bowl. There will be dog-themed fun throughout the night!
Firebirds set to host Hockey Fights Cancer night on Saturday:
The Flint Firebirds are set to host their annual Hockey Fights Cancer game on Saturday in support of the McLaren Flint Foundation. The Flint Firebirds will wear lavender-colored jerseys recognizing all cancers with different colored ribbons in the numbers. There will also be a live jersey auction that will follow the conclusion of the Firebirds game.
Battalion prepare for Indigenous Youth Day on Sunday:
Join the Battalion on Sunday as they recognize Indigenous Youth in and around North Bay. There will be a ceremonial puck drop featuring the Battalion’s Dalyn Wakely, as well as an information booth, prizes, and much more to be won at the game.
Wolves set to host We are Wolves fanfest on Sunday:
The Sudbury Wolves continue to celebrate their 50th anniversary season by holding a fan appreciation fanfest ahead of their Sunday matchup. The Windsor Spitfires are set to hold their annual Halloween game on Sunday, followed by “Skate with the Spits”, where fans will have the opportunity to skate on the ice with the players after the game.

Wright records first career NHL point on Wednesday:
Shane Wright was awarded an assist on Ryan Donato’s first goal of the season Wednesday night as the Seattle Kraken fell 4-3 against the St. Louis Blues. Wright’s first career point comes in his third NHL contest. The fourth overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, Wright is a former exceptional status rookie in the OHL, earning OHL Rookie of the Year honours during the 2019-20 season. The Burlington, Ont. native racked up 160 points (71-89–160) in 121 career OHL contests with the Kingston Frontenacs from 2019-22.
Tavares records 900th career NHL point:
Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares registered the 900th point of his NHL career on Monday as the Leafs fell to the Arizona Coyotes 4-2. Tavares has five points (1-4–5) through his first four games of the season with Toronto, accruing 900 over 953 career regular season contests over 14 seasons. The former Oshawa Generals and London Knights standout remains the OHL’s all-time leading goal-scorer, lighting the lamp 215 times over four seasons from 2005-09.

The 2022-23 American Hockey League season got underway last weekend, with a total of 149 OHL alumni included on rosters to begin the campaign. READ
