Boston Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron has added another impressive accomplishment to his Hall of Fame-caliber resume.
The 37-year-old center tallied the 1,000th point of his NHL career on Monday night with an assist on Brad Marchand’s second-period goal versus the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena.
The entire Bruins bench emptied onto the ice to congratulate Bergeron on his historic achievement.
Bergeron is the fourth player in Bruins history to reach this scoring milestone. He hit 1000 points by scoring 409 goals and dishing out 591 assists in the first 1,235 regular season games of his 19-year career.

Bruins’ record start faces huge test as most brutal stretch of schedule begins
Bergeron receives a ton of praise for his defensive excellence, which is totally deserved given his record five Selke Trophy wins. Therefore, it’s sometimes easy to forget that Bergeron has actually been a very good offensive player as well. He’s on pace to score 20-plus goals for a 10th consecutive season.
Bergeron has posted nine goals and nine assists in 19 games as of this writing.
Marchand should be able to reach the 1000-point mark before he retires, too, especially if he continues to score above a point-per-game rate, which he’s done for the last six seasons.
