Jeff Marek has joined The Nation Network family: Leafs Morning Take

by

For a variety of reasons, Thursday’s edition of Leafs Morning Take was a blockbuster episode.

In case you haven’t heard, Jeff Marek has joined The Nation Network family. Starting in December, the long-time NHL broadcaster will be hosting a daily show called ‘The Sheet.’ With in that in mind, brought to you by Square, Marek dropped by the show to dish on his monster announcement.

It goes without saying but Rosey and I are pumped to have Marek aboard, he’s an absolute gem. I had a chance to work with him at Sportsnet for a few years. Throughout the season, there’s no question that you will see Marek hop on LMT from time to time.

After that, we touched on the latest news and notes from Maple Leafs practice. Most importantly, Auston Matthews was not present. That said, the captain hasn’t been ruled out for the weekend just yet. Personally, I would be shocked if he ended up playing.

Meantime, fresh off Anthony Stolarz’s impressive shutout victory over Boston, former NHL netminder Carter Hutton dropped by for a visit. We got him to break down the technical side of Stolarz’s game as well as weigh in on Toronto’s crease —as a whole. Spoiler: Hutton feels good, but he did add the caveat to not get too high or too low when dissecting the position. I get it.

Then, we played another edition of Take It or Leaf It. We debated whether or not William Nylander will lead the Leafs in goal scoring this season, if Conor Timmins will outplay Jani Hakanpaa, and if the Leafs PP has finally turned a corner.

Needless to say, lots coming your way on the Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We’ll tee up this weekend’s back-to-back at home as the Leafs host Detroit in the annual Hall of Fame game on Friday night and the rival Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night. It would be nice to see them sweep the two games, but as know by now, when it comes to this Leafs team, anything is possible. It’s been an up and down start for Craig Berube’s bunch.
