The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled Philippe Myers from the Toronto Marlies on Friday.
The Maple Leafs announced it in conjunction with saying that defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson would miss Friday’s practice due to an illness.

Myers went down to the AHL on a conditioning loan on Nov. 16 and played three games with the club, playing all of it alongside Marshall Rifai. The 27-year-old signed a one-year, $775,000 deal with Toronto on July 2.
He made the Maple Leafs out of training camp and played in one game: A 4-3 overtime loss to the Boston Bruins on Oct. 26. Myers played 12:11 alongside Simon Benoit.

Ekman-Larsson has played 20 games with the Maple Leafs this season within the bottom two defense pairings. The 33-year-old has averaged 21:09 through 20 games, scoring one goal and seven assists.
The defenseman signed a four-year, $14 million contract with the Maple Leafs on July 1, after winning a Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers a few weeks earlier.

Ekman-Larsson was honored earlier this week for reaching the 1000-game mark. He received a silver stick on Saturday from Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving. The team also made hats for the defenseman, which they wore ahead of his 1000th game on Nov. 13 in Washington.
The Maple Leafs’ next game is on Sunday against the Utah Hockey Club. After that, the team won’t play until Wednesday against the Florida Panthers.
