Mathieu Perreault is moving on to the world of broadcasting, retiring from the NHL at the age of 34.
Perreault, who last played with the Montreal Canadiens in 2021-22, will join TVA Sports for a show hosted by Stephane Gonzalez, the network announced. In the release, the English translation says that Perreault “recently retired from hockey.”
Among other former NHLers involved in the show are Guillaume Latendresse, Maxim Lapierre, Simon Gagne, Steve Begin, Louis Robitaille, Joel Bouchard and longtime coach Michel Therrien.
Perreault played in 708 games with Montreal, Winnipeg, Anaheim and Washington, recording 143 goals and 352 points. He was a key piece of Hershey’s Calder Cup titles in 2009 and 2010 and was the QMJHL’s MVP in 2006-07 before turning pro. Perreault scored a goal and added an assist in his last NHL game, a 10-2 win over Florida as a member of the Canadiens.
