At this time, Lucic is ineligible to play in the NHL again. After he was arrested in Boston last November for assault and battery. He pleaded not guilty, and the charges were later dropped in February after his wife declined to testify.
In order for Lucic to come back and be eligible to play in the NHL again, he would need to be cleared by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman. Lucic is currently in the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance program.
Could this mean that the Devils are planning on signing Lucic to a PTO once he is cleared to play in the NHL?

It could make sense based on the offseason moves that the Devils have made. They have added a ton of size and grit to their lineup, and if they did add Lucic, it would help them even more. Or is he simply just training in New Jersey with his friends?
At this point, only time will tell what is next for Lucic and his hockey career.
