GLOUCESTER, MASS. – NCAA Division III women’s head coaches have recognized the top 24 hockey players in their division by selecting them as CCM Hockey/AHCA All-Americans for 2023-24. The honorees come from 15 different schools, and 21 of the 24 are from the U.S., with one each from New Brunswick, Ontario, and Norway. The state of Minnesota, with seven players, provided the most All-Americans.
The Soaring Eagles had two players earn All-America status, as Madi Morton ’24 garnered first-team defense recognition and Erika Goleniak ’25 second-team forward honors. This is the 29th time in program history that EC has boasted at least one All-American, while Morton becomes the 23rd player in program history to earn first-team honors.
A 2023-24 New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) First Team All-Conference selection, Morton earned her second consecutive first-team selection for the Purple & Gold and her third overall All-NEHC recognition. The Colorado Springs, Colorado native paced the Elmira defensive core with 17 points and a +18 plus/minus rating through 25 games during the regular season.
Through five playoff games, Morton has helped anchor EC’s defense to just three goals allowed including a pair of shutouts in the NEHC semifinals and finals. She has matched her career high this season with four goals scored while her 14 assists are one shy of her single season best of 15 during the 2021-22 season.
Leading the Soaring Eagles in goals, assists, and points throughout the regular season, Goleniak was named NEHC First Team All-Conference after tallying 10 goals and 11 assists through 18 conference games. The Canton, Michigan native has almost doubled her previous career high for goals in a season and is two assists behind her career-high of 20 that she notched during the 2022-23 season.
Through five postseason contests, Goleniak has scored a pair of goals to go along with three assists for the Purple & Gold. Goleniak ranks 27th in Division III with 1.07 points per game, while also ranking 34th in assists per game (0.60) and 46th in goals per game (0.47). Goleniak is on pace to be the first player to lead the team in goals, assists, and points since Emma Crocker ’21 after the 2019-20 season.
