VEGAS (December 26, 2022) – Vegas Golden Knights General Manager Kelly McCrimmon announced today, December 26, that the team has signed forward Matyas Sapovaliv to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Sapovaliv is in his second season playing with the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL and currently stands third on his team in scoring with 30 points (11 G, 19 A) in 30 contests. Last year in Saginaw, the forward appeared in each of the club’s 68 games, posting 52 points (18 G, 34 A), and was named a finalist to the OHL’s 2021-22 All-Rookie Team.
Sapovaliv has also competed internationally and is currently representing his country, Czechia, at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championships along with fellow Vegas prospect Jakub Brabenec. The Golden Knights selected Sapovaliv with their first pick (48th overall) in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
