Guelph, ON – Guelph Storm General Manager George Burnett announced today that 2023 first round pick Quinn Beauchesne has committed to a Standard Player Agreement with the hockey club.

The 5’11, 165 lbs right shot defenceman from Ottawa, Ontario was selected 14th overall in this year’s OHL Priority Selection.

“Quinn’s ability to skate combined with his intelligence, vision, ability to move the puck, and overall competitiveness have made him one of the top young defenseman in this year’s draft class,” said General Manager George Burnett. “We are pleased to welcome Quinn and his family to the Guelph Storm organization.”

The 2007-born blueliner had an excellent 2022-23 season with the Nepean Raiders U18 AAA team, recording eight goals and 27 assists for 35 points in 28 games during the regular season. Beauchesne added two goals and two assists for four points in three playoff games this spring. He also recorded an assist in a call-up game for the CCHL’s Junior A Nepean Raiders.

This past winter, Beauchesne represented Team Ontario at the 2023 Canada Winter Games. The defender recorded one goal and four assists for five points in six games to help his team take home the gold medal.

“I am very proud and honoured to become part of the Guelph Storm organization,” said Beauchesne. “I know good things are ahead for this team and there is lots to look forward to for Storm fans. I want to thank ownership and all team personnel for giving me this opportunity
and making this possible.”

OHL Central Scouting says: “Quinn is an elite offensive defenceman that is always dangerous when he has the puck on his stick. He is an elite-level skater that has a very good top-end speed to go along with his explosive acceleration and elusive mobility. He has great skills and vision with the pick and makes accurate breakout passes. He loves to join or lead the rush, as he is dangerous with the puck when he is in full flight. He defends using his great footwork, takes time and space away well, and has a very active stick. Quinn is one of the best offensive defencemen in this age group.”
