With NHL arbitration hearings underway, the list of restricted free agents still without deals is down to a handful.

Twenty-four RFAs initially filed for arbitration earlier this month, with 13 of those players — Morgan Barron (Jets), William Borgen (Kraken), Noah Cates (Flyers), Ross Colton (Avs), Alex DeBrincat (Sens/Wings), Brandon Duhaime (Wild), Cale Fleury (Kraken), Brett Howden (VGK), Tanner Jeannot (Lightning), Timo Meier (Devils), Ian Mitchell (Bruins), Alexey Toropchenko (Blues), Gabe Vilardi (Jets) — settling with their respective clubs ahead of July 20.

Swayman, Bruins far apart ahead of hearing

The Boston Bruins and goaltender Jeremy Swayman have a sizeable bridge to gap in their July 30 arbitration hearing.

On Friday, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported the two sides are $2.8 million apart, with the Bruins coming in at $2 million and Swayman’s camp filing for $4.8 million.

Swayman was one half of Boston’s Jennings Trophy tandem last season, appearing in 37 games with a sparkling 2.27 goals-against average and .920 save percentage. The 24-year has a career record of 54-23-7 with a 2.24 GAA and .920 SV% since entering the league in 2021. Swayman’s battery mate, Vezina Trophy-winning netminder Linus Ullmark, has two years remaining on his deal with an annual cap hit of $5M.

The Bruins currently have $5.4 million in cap space with Swayman and forward Trent Frederic in need of new contracts.
