Fanatics NHL Jerseys Hit the Shelves

As many fans know, the NHL has partnered with Adidas for the past few seasons to produce its on-ice jerseys. However, like so many things in this ever-evolving world, the two agreed to part ways, paving the way for Fanatics to gain the NHL jersey contract.

Since the mega sports apparel company was already making the fans’ jerseys, it only made sense to take over the game-used collection while launching other products like premium and practice jerseys.

The agreement between the NHL and Fanatics will be for the next 10 seasons.

On Saturday, Fanatics jerseys finally hit the market. And social media is abuzz about the prices for a product that many in the jersey industry felt was a questionable move by the league.

Although the company doesn’t have the greatest reputation for producing quality products, here’s a breakdown of how much a jersey will cost a Montreal Canadiens fan this season.

When deciding which product to wear and purchase, there are four styles.

Fanatics Authentic Pro ($425 USD / $500 CDN)

According to the NHL and Fanatics, these authentic pro-style jerseys are made in Canada from the same factory where the league has received them for half a century. Additionally, these will be authentic pro-style sweaters, the same ones worn by Nick Suzuki, Patrik Laine, and Sam Montembeault on the ice.

Fanatics Premium ($180 USD / $200 CDN)

Per the news release, the Fanatcs Premium jerseys will be the top choice for fans who don’t want the on-ice product. Comprised of a lighter material, they will be more “comfortable” and include logos and patches sewn on like the authentic.

Fanatics Breakaway ($135 USD / $160 CDN)

Fans who have avoided spending several hundred dollars on the Adidas authentic jerseys, including the Prime Green sweaters, could have bought a cheaper breakaway sweater. This style has been on the market for several seasons, and it does not include any sewn materials; instead, logos, names, and numbers are heat-pressed.

Fanatics Practice ($120 USD / $190 CDN)

Finally, one of the newest styles made available to the general public, Fanatics, has rolled out an NHL practice jersey series. For the first time in a long time, jersey collectors can purchase a practice jersey, one of the harder finds on the market.

Thankfully, Fanatics caught on to the interest in practice jerseys and looked for a new way to capitalize on a niche in the industry.
