Penguins Sign Casey DeSmith to Two-Year Extension

by

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed goaltender Casey DeSmith to a two-year extension worth $1.8 million per season.

DeSmith, 30, has served as Pittsburgh’s backup for four of the past five seasons, working with Tristan Jarry over the past two seasons. Jarry had an 11-6-5 record with three shutouts in 26 regular season games this year and was slated to be the team’s starting goalie in the playoffs until suffering an injury in double overtime against the New York Rangers in Game 1.
