Coventry Blaze have announced the signing of 24-year-old forward Nick Jermain for the 2021 Elite Series.
Born in Norwalk, Connecticut, Jermain played his junior hockey in the EHL and BCHL with Connecticut Oilers and the Merritt Centennials respectively.
In the 2014/15 season, while playing for the Oilers, Jermain led the EHL play-offs with three goals and 10 assists for 13 points. A vital part in helping his team clinch the EHL Championship.
His one-year spell in the BCHL with the Centennials was just as rewarding. He averaged exactly a point per-game, tallying 29 goals and 25 assists for 54 points in 54 games. He also earned the teamâs Leadership and Ability award, as well as the Coachesâ Award.
In 2016, Jermain went on to join Quinnipiac University Bobcats of the NCAA and scored his first two goals, including the game-winning goal, against Yale in a 5-2 victory.
In his senior year with the Bobcats, Jermain was named the 46th captain in program history and had a career year, posting 12 goals and nine assists for 21 points in 34 games. Also, in his final year, he was awarded the Coachesâ Award for his on-ice performances.
It wasnât just Jermainâs on-ice performances that were so impressive. Academically, he shone, earning huge recognition being named in the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team in all four seasons spent with the Bobcats.
Over his four years with the Bobcats, Jermain registered a total of 26 goals and 25 assists for 51 points in 123 games.
He had signed his first professional deal back in August 2020 with Andrew Lordâs Greenville Swamp Rabbits in the ECHL.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the influx of players flocking to the ECHL, Jermain was to never hit the ice with the Swamp Rabbits, meaning his appearance in the Elite Series will be his first professional, alongside fellow NCAA graduate and new teammate Tristan Keck.
Head coach Danny Stewart said: âWeâre very happy to have Nick on board. He had a very good senior year at Quinnipiac. He is a great skater, very skilled, can score and can play both wings. I think heâs a player who can make a very good transition to the pro level.â
Nick Jermain will wear number 18 for the Blaze in the Elite Series which will be played throughout April, behind closed doors at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham.
