London Knights forward Ryan Del Monte is one of 26 players named to Germany’s preliminary roster for the upcoming 2023 World Juniors in Moncton, N.B. and Halifax, N.S.
A 19-year-old from Mississauga, Ont., Del Monte was born in Freiburg, Germany during the course of his father and OHL alumnus Dan Del Monte’s professional career in Germany’s second division. Del Monte has 10 points (4-6–10) in 15 games with the Knights this season after being acquired from the Barrie Colts, where he registered seven goals, 20 assists and 27 points in 84 games over the past two seasons.
Formerly Barrie’s second round (24th overall) pick in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection, Del Monte represented Germany at the 2022 World Juniors in August, appearing in three games. He spent the 2020-21 pandemic-affected season playing between EHC Freiburg and the Hannover Indians in Germany’s pro ranks.
The Germans begin their 2023 World Juniors schedule on December 27th against Sweden in Halifax.
