OHL Announces Priority Selection Lottery Format – Ontario Hockey League

by

Toronto, Ont. – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that the League will once again facilitate a lottery to determine the order of selection for the first four picks of the first round of the OHL Priority Selection for member teams not qualifying for the OHL Playoffs.

One amendment to the lottery process will see a weighted system utilized which will provide a 40 percent opportunity for the last-placed team to garner the first overall selection with the three other teams having adjusted proportionate odds (30 percent, 20 percent, 10 percent) of drawing the first overall choice. The second, third and fourth overall selection slots will also be determined by way of the lottery process.

The results of the Priority Selection Lottery will also be utilized for the order of selection for the first round of the 2023 OHL Under-18 Priority Selection and the first round of the 2023 CHL Import Draft.

The 2023 OHL Priority Selection presented by Real Canadian Superstore will take place on Friday, April 21 commencing at 7:00pm for rounds 1-3 and continuing on Saturday, April 22 at 9:00am.

Both the OHL Priority Selection and Lottery will be streamed online on CHL TV, with coverage provided across social media platforms Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Fans can follow along with each pick of the OHL Priority Selection at ontariohockeyleague.com.
