The Seattle Kraken announced Monday that they’ve signed Kitchener Rangers graduate Ville Ottavainen to a three-year entry-level NHL contract.
Ottavainen played for the Rangers during the 2019-20 season, recording four goals, 11 assists and 15 points in 53 games. The 6-foot-5, 218Ib. defenceman was selected by Seattle in the fourth round (99th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft.
Now 20-years-old, Ottavainen has spent the better part of the last two seasons in Finland’s top professional circuit, competing for JyP HT Jyvaskyla where he’s recorded five goals, 11 assists and 16 points in 51 games this season.
