Former Barrie Colts goaltender Jet Greaves made his NHL debut on Tuesday at the age of 22, stopping 46 shots and setting a new Columbus Blue Jackets record for most saves in a goaltender’s first appearance with the franchise in a 4-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Only six other goaltenders in NHL history had as many in their first career appearance.

The Cambridge, Ont. native spent two seasons with the Colts from 2018-20, playing to a 20-27-4-1 mark with a 3.71 goals-against average and .899 save percentage with three shutouts over 60 regular season games.

Originally signing an American Hockey League contract with the Cleveland Monsters in 2021, Greaves has made 38 AHL appearances this season, recording a 3.23 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage with a shutout. He split the 2021-22 season between AHL Cleveland and the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings.
