Wayne Gretzky Partners With BetMGM as Brand Ambassador

Wayne Gretzky has signed a multi-year deal with BetMGM as a brand ambassador for the company’s hockey and North American marketing endeavors.

“BetMGM is a terrific company and one at the forefront of the dynamic changes taking place in the sports business,” Gretzky said. “I’m excited to be a part of the company’s continued expansion into new states and territories and to help tell BetMGM’s story.”

BetMGM is a sports betting platform that started as a partnership between MGM Resorts International and Entain, a sports betting and gambling company. 

The news comes a week after Gretzky announced his departure from his role as the Edmonton Oilers’ vice-chairman and subsequent arrival as a studio analyst on TNT’s inaugural foray as an official NHL broadcaster in 2021-21.

“Wayne is an exceptional talent who transcends the sports world and we’re proud to welcome him to the BetMGM team,” BetMGM’s chief revenue officer Matt Prevost said. “As we look toward potential expansion into Canada, and elsewhere throughout the United States, Wayne will bring a unique ability to tell our brand story.” 

Just last week, the 60-year-old recently had his rookie card sell for a record $3.75 million. The card, one of only two known in existence, was graded Gem Mint 10 by Professional Sport Authenticator (PSA) and is considered one of the rarest in the world. Even 22 years after his retirement, the demand is clearly still there for the “Great One”.
