Leave it to the Boston Bruins to knock the red-hot Toronto Maple Leafs back a few pegs.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
For the record, John Tavares called it a ‘learning lesson.”
Got it.
We wasted no time getting into things on the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Right off the bat, Jay Rosehill went on another one of his legendary rants, but it’s not for what you think. This one – believe it or not – was about Monday night’s crowd and condemning them for booing their Maple Leafs. Predictably, Rosey, who’s a former Leaf, backed the team. Understandably so, too.
Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on everything surrounding Toronto’s 4-1 loss to Boston. We discussed the lacklustre start, the bad puck luck, and the defensive breakdowns. Additionally, we broke down Joseph Woll’s night. Simply put, Boston wanted it more, and that’s why they walked out of Scotiabank Arena with two points. It was a very mid performance for the Maple Leafs.
After that, courtesy of Douglas, we were fortunate enough to spend some time with Hockey Hall of Fame head coach Scotty Bowman. Incredibly, now 90 years young, the 9-time Stanley Cup champion still lives and breathes hockey. We picked his brain on Auston Matthews, disciplining star players, and if the Leafs have a chance to go all the way this season.
Lastly, brought to you by Charm Diamond Centres, we dissected some of the latest names being connected to the Leafa via trade. On Monday, Chris Johnston mentioned Zach Bogosian, David Savard, and Matt Dumba. We’ll see what happens.
Anthony Stewart will step in for Jay Rosehill on the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. In addition to previewing the Leafs/Sabres game, we’ll open up the Great Clips inbox once again where we’ll field some of our listener/viewer questions.
T-minus three sleeps until Friday’s trade deadline. Hold onto your hats.
