CAPITALS VS. PANTHERS WHAT TO WATCH

From NBC Sports Washington’s Andrew Gillis:

“They were unexpected yet unmistakable, as the Capitals rode the Ilya Samsonov wave for as far as it would take them Saturday. As it turned out, it was a wave that can travel pretty far.  Read more.

From NBC Sports Washington’s Bijan Todd:

“Each opponent focuses on Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, T.J. Oshie and Evgeny Kuznetsov before facing the Capitals. But Washington’s depth pieces have time and again proven to be just as lethal in determining the outcomes of games lately as the potential Hall of Famers. Read more.

CAPITALS VS. PANTHERS PLAYERS TO WATCH

Capitals: Alex Ovechkin, LW (1 goal, 1 assist, 3 shots in Game 3): In the two games down in Florida, Ovechkin had become more of a facilitator, putting up two assists. Still, the Capitals captain found the back of the net in Game 3, and it could be a warning to the Panthers that he’s now ready to contribute more on the goal-scoring side.

Panthers: Jonathan Huberdeau, LW (1 goal, 2 shots in Game 3): The lone positive in Game 3 for the Panthers was the opening goal from Huberdeau, but after that it went downhill for them as they were unable to find the back of the net again. The 28-year-old stated postgame that he and his teammates need to find their scoring sticks or they could be in trouble.
