NHL Network has released their “Top 20 Centers Right Now” list, with two Vancouver Canucks featuring in the top 12. Elias Pettersson was the highest-ranked Canucks player at tenth overall, while J.T. Miller came in at 11th. While Miller was unranked last year, Pettersson kept his same spot as he was ranked tenth in 2023. As for the top three on this year’s list, it consisted of Connor McDavid in first, Nathan MacKinnon in second, and Austin Matthews in third.

After an offseason of rest and recovery, Pettersson enters the 2024-25 looking to improve on his 89-point season. He should once again be in the Selke conversation and will be looking to become just the seventh player in franchise history to record 500+ points. If he can stay healthy, Pettersson could be in the Hart discussion while also surpassing the 100-point mark for the second time in his career.

As for Miller, he is looking to build off his best season in the NHL. Posting 103 points in 81 games last season, Miller was voted MVP by the fans and finished in the top 15 in both Hart and Selke voting in 2023-24. A player Rick Tocchet heavily leans on; Miller should be able to join the 700-point club for his career later this season.
