The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially signed former Montreal Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty to a one-year deal worth $873,770.

It was announced on Sept. 11 that the Maple Leafs had offered the 35-year-old a professional tryout contract, and Pacioretty earned a contract with five points in four pre-season games.
Initially drafted by Montreal in the first round (22nd overall) in 2007, he played ten seasons with the club, serving as captain from 2015 to 2018. He scored 226 goals and 448 points in 626 games.
On Sept. 9, 2018, Pacioretty was dealt to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for current captain Nick Suzuki, Tomas Tatar, and a second-round draft pick.

He had a successful tenure in Vegas, scoring 97 goals and 194 points in 224 games before injuries derailed his stints in Carolina and Washington in 2022 and 2023.
DailyFaceoff.com indicates that Pacioretty is slated to play on the Maple Leafs third line alongside Pontus Holmberg and Nicholas Robertson.
Overall, Pacioretty had played 902 games with 330 goals, 338 assists, and 668 points over the past 16 seasons.
