Breaking Down the Best Time to Buy In On Stanley Cup Contenders

by admin

There’s no secret that everyone loves juicy odds and besides parlaying a bunch of different future bets from different sports, it’s hard to get those large profit future tickets without incurring a lot of risk.A betting strategy that we going to look over today is when to buy in at the exact right time for a team.

If you look at other sports like the MLB Postseason on right now, you’ll find rare betters who got teams like the San Diego Padres on World Series tickets with odds like +5600 when they are currently listed at +500 now on Bet365. It may not seem like much but if you can inch out even the smallest boost on the listed odds, it could make a significant difference at the end of the season when they get lower and lower heading into the playoffs.

Mark your calendars because here are possible buy-in dates for teams you may believe are Stanley Cup contenders. We aren’t guaranteeing that the odds will drop on these dates but present possible bad stretches from these teams that could see their odds drop.

Edmonton Oilers (currently: +800)

The reigning Western Conference Champions are the favourites to win the Stanley Cup this season and will likely need an early buy-in as they start off their season against several weaker teams like the Flames, Blackhawks and Flyers in three of their first four games.

They very well could stay near the top of the board in odds until mid-November, where they enter a tough 16-game stretch that has them faceoff against the likes of the Maple Leafs, Predators, Rangers, Avalanche, Bruins and Panthers among others. There could be a chance at a buy-in opportunity around December 19 following their matchup versus the Bruins.

New Jersey Devils (currently: +900)

This team is already a wild card but they are currently the top team in the NHL with a 2-0 record and has them playing a Metropolitan division that appears tougher than most. They start a very difficult run on November 4th where they kick things off against the Oilers and has them play fierce teams like the Lightning, Hurricanes, Predators, Avalanche and Rangers not to mention, they also play the Panthers twice in a doubleheader during mid-November.

If their odds don’t drop after a run like that, it would be very surprising and you should find odds likely better than +900 around December 10th following their matchup versus the Maple Leafs.

Florida Panthers (currently: +1000)

It is always risky taking a team to repeat as champions but if you do want to invest in the Panthers you can certainly wait. The starting schedule for the Cats is very difficult with their first games seeing two different back-to-backs versus tough opponents in the Stars and Hurricanes as well as a slew of tough games versus the likes of the Bruins, Senators, Canucks, Golden Knights, Rangers, Devils, Avalanche and Jets.

Their odds will certainly drop and should create a decent buy-in opportunity around the end of November following that back-to-back versus Carolina and just before they start an easier run of games against the Penguins.

Dallas Stars (currently: +1000)

The Stars have a schedule that is quite favourable as their tough matchups are mainly spread out except for a run of games from November 29th until December 23rd. They play a back-to-back against the Jets and Utah Hockey Club which is then followed by games against the Kings, Golden Knights, Predators, Maple Leafs and Rangers.

A perfect Christmas gift for yourself may be a Stars future as the odds should be favourable following that run of games heading into the holiday season.

Potential Buy-in dates for other contending teams:

Toronto Maple Leafs – November 21st (The Buds are known to start slow and they likely will again with three back-to-backs to start off the season before likely ending their tough stretch on November 20th when they play the Golden Knights. Tough opponents and no breaks when you play easier ones will surely drop odds.)

Carolina Hurricanes – December 6th (Following tough six-game stretch featuring matchups versus Stars, Rangers, Avalanche and a back-to-back versus the Panthers)

Colorado Avalanche – January 27th (The new year will be challenging with 11-game stretch with matchups versus the likes of the Oilers, Stars, Panthers, Jets and ends on a brutal back-to-back versus the Bruins and Rangers. This will certainly be the best time all season to invest.)

New York Rangers – January 15th (The Blueshirts will run a very tough gaunlet towards the end of 2024 with a 15-game stretch against some of the best teams in the league. They will go up against teams like the Predators, Hurricanes, Devils, Lightning, Bruins, Panthers, Golden Knights and Avalanche. Things get more challenging when they face off twice against the Stars and Devils.)

Vancouver Canucks – February 5th (13-game stretch with matchups against Hurricanes, Maple Leafs, Jets, Stars, Predators, Avalanche and Oilers twice should create a buy-in opportunity before the All-Star break.)
