The former Wild goaltender was placed on waivers by the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday and now has been claimed by the Colorado Avalanche.

Kahkonen, 28, started 51 games for the Wild across three seasons. He went 31-17-4 with a .907 save percentage and a 2.88 goals-against-average with the Wild and was eventually traded to San Jose.
He never played a regular season game for the Jets this year and will now go to Colorado. The Avalanche have two goaltenders on their roster already but after Alexander Georgiev let up five in their first game, the Avs have picked up an extra goaltender.
