Wild Recall Travis Boyd, Send Wallstedt Down

by admin

The Minnesota Wild (1-0-1) have recalled forward Travis Boyd from the American Hockey League (AHL) and sent goaltender Jesper Wallstedt to the Iowa Wild of the AHL.

It is the second time in two games that Wallstedt has been sent down. Before Thursday’s home opener the Wild sent Wallstedt down and recalled a defenseman because Declan Chisholm was sick.

Now, with Joel Eriksson Ek in Minnesota following his upper-body injury he sustained on Saturday night, the Wild have recalled a center from the AHL.

Boyd, 31, played in 16 NHL games last season for the Arizona Coyotes. He was hurt for most of the season. The year before, Boyd recorded 15 goals, 19 assists, and 34 points in all 82 games.

The former Minnesota Gopher has 47 goals, 71 assists, and 118 points in 296 career NHL games.

Minnesota plays the Winnipeg Jets tonight at 5:00 p.m.
