The Ottawa Senators announced they have signed goaltender Malcolm Subban to a one-year, one-way AHL contract for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Subban played 31 games for the Springfield Thunderbirds and four games for the Cleveland Monsters last season, he also started one game for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Toronto, ON., native has a career AHL record of 89-78-32 with a .911 SV% and 2.65 GAA. He has also appeared in 87 NHL games with a record of 36-34-9 with an .898 SV% and 3.10 GAA.

The 30-year-old played three seasons for the OHL’s Belleville Bulls from 2010-2013, finishing with the leagues best GAA and SV% while making the OHL’s Third All-Star Team his final season.

This moves adds veteran experience to Belleville’s crease. Goaltender Mads Sogaard suffered an injury last week and this move likely signals he will miss significant time.

A first round pick of the Boston Bruins in 2012, Subban will split the net with Leevi Meriläinen for the time being.

Belleville’s next game comes against the Providence Bruins on Wednesday before taking on the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday.
