Kozak, 21, has appeared in 14 games this season with the Amerks, where he has five goals, one assist, and 24 penalty minutes. His five goals already match the number he had during the 2022-23 season (55 games) and 2023-24 campaign (41 games).

The Sabres selected Kozak with the 193rd overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. In 110 games with the Amerks over three seasons, he has 15 goals, 28 points, and 78 penalty minutes. Now, with this call-up, Kozak has the chance to make his NHL regular-season debut.

Kozak’s recall comes after Sabres forward Sam Lafferty left the club’s latest matchup against the Vancouver Canucks early due to a lower-body injury.
