The Queen’s University Gaels men’s hockey program announced Tuesday that Niagara IceDogs forward Daniel Michaud has committed for the 2023-24 season.

A native of Belleville, Ont., Michaud will forego a potential overage season in the OHL to pursue an education on campus in Kingston, suiting up for a Queen’s program led by former OHL forward Brett Gibson behind the bench.

Michaud, 20, recorded career-highs with 23 goals, 27 assists and 50 points over 64 games this past season. The 6-foot-3, 185Ib. centre played big minutes for the IceDogs, taking a team-high 1,122 faceoffs.

“I chose Queen’s University because of its fantastic and well-known academic programs,” said Michaud of the decision. “As well Queen’s University provides an amazing hockey program with great sports/training facilities.”

A former second round (23rd overall) pick by the Oshawa Generals in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection, Michaud recorded 36 goals, 58 assists and 94 points over 182 career regular season games between the IceDogs and Generals.
