Kitchener, Ont. – The Kitchener Rangers announced today that Dominic Hennig has been named the club’s Senior Director of Broadcasting, Communications and Hockey Operations.

Hennig, 30, will oversee all broadcast and communications efforts for the Rangers and will serve as the primary contact for local and national media requests, in addition to NHL personnel. Hennig will also be responsible for working closely with the hockey operations staff in a team-services role to provide support in the areas of team travel, the day-to-day itinerary, air and ground transportation, hotel accommodations, catering, ticket requests, and player and staff relocation.

“We are very pleased and excited to welcome Dom to the Rangers,” said Kitchener Rangers Chief Operating Officer Joe Birch. “He is an amazing talent who brings lots of experience to our team. He will be an awesome addition to an already incredible staff.”

Alex Witherspoon, who previously handled communications, will resume her role as Digital Marketing Manager and will now focus solely on marketing and branding for the team.

“We want to thank Alex for her support over the past two seasons in the area of communications. She will now be continuing to provide leadership and expertise within our graphics, branding and digital marketing.”

Dominic, a Detroit, Mich., native comes to Kitchener with 13 consecutive years of hockey communications experience, most recently playing a key role in launching the inaugural season of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), one of six NCAA Division I hockey conferences in the United States.

“The Kitchener Rangers are a world-class organization with a great staff and culture in place,” said Hennig. “I look forward to working alongside our staff to serve both our players and Rangers Nation. I’d like to thank Joe (Birch), Adam (Bramhill) and Mike (McKenzie) for the opportunity and look forward to moving to the Waterloo Region.”

Prior to the CCHA, Hennig served as the Director of Broadcasting and Communications for the OHL’s Flint Firebirds for six years from 2015-21. Additionally, Hennig was the Assistant Director for Broadcast, Communications and Multimedia for Ferris State University’s NCAA Division I hockey program for six years from 2009-2015.

Hennig is a graduate of Ferris State University in Michigan where he has earned a bachelor of science degree in business and public relations, along with a minor in sports communication, and has begun working toward obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Dominic and his wife Nicole plan to move to Kitchener this August.
