The Chicago Wolves, AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes, were crowned Calder Cup champions on Saturday night, with 12 OHL graduates contributing to the effort.
The Wolves defeated the Springfield Falcons 4-0 in Game 5 of their series, with AHL Playoff MVP Josh Leivo finding the back of the net in the championship-clinching victory.

Leivo, who received the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy, led the postseason with 29 points (15-14–29) in 18 games, followed closely by teammate and fellow OHL graduate Stefan Noesen who had 25 (9-16–25). Former Barrie Colts and London Knights defender Joey Keane led AHL blueliners in playoff scoring with 12 points (1-11–12).
The championship is Chicago’s first since 2008, following an additional past Calder Cup title in 2002. The Wolves eliminated the Rockford IceHogs, Milwaukee Admirals and Stockton Heat to reach the Final, besting Springfield in five games.
The Wolves won their first-ever AHL regular season title in 2021-22, playing to mark of 50-16-5-5.
