Niagara, ON – The Niagara IceDogs have announced Daniel Fitzgerald as Head Coach, the sixth in team history.
“I am honoured to be named the Head Coach of the Niagara IceDogs and I can’t wait to get to work with our players and staff as we develop a winning culture” said Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald joins the IceDogs after spending the past four seasons as the Head Coach of the Brantford 99ers in the OJHL. He is a familiar face behind the bench in Niagara, as he previously served as Head Coach of the St. Catharines Falcons. Prior to that, he was the Head Coach of the Cambridge Winter Hawks of the GOJHL and the Dundas Blues, where he was named the 2014-2015 Ontario Hockey Association Coach of the Year.
Excited to get started at the Meridian Centre, Fitzgerald expressed: “IceDogs fans are known as some of the best fans in the entire OHL and it is a privilege to go to work in front of them every night. I look forward to immersing myself in the Niagara community as part of this world-class organization.”
“I’d like to thank Darren and Michele DeDobbelaer and Wayne Gretzky for providing me with the opportunity to coach in the best development league in the world. I am also grateful for the support of my family, especially my wife, Robyn, and our son, Ciaran,” Fitzgerald continued.
The IceDogs organization is looking forward to the 2022-23 season ahead under Fitzgerald, we know he’ll have an immediate impact behind the bench.
