With 7th-round picks, Flyers snag a pair of forwards originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia
In the seventh round of the 2022 NHL draft Friday at Montreal’s Bell Centre, the Flyers selected forwards Santeri Sulku and Alexis Gendron.
The club took Sulku at 197th overall. It grabbed Gendron at 220th, a pick it acquired in the morning as part of the Tony DeAngelo trade.
Sulku is a 6-foo-2, 185-pound left winger from Finland. He was the 54th-ranked European skater by NHL Central Scouting and just turned 18 years old last month. Playing for the under-20 Jokerit team in his native country last season, Sulku tallied 13 goals and 19 assists over 35 games.
He’s set to play in Sweden during 2022-23.
Gendron is a 5-foot-9, 175-pounder who can play center or right winger. He was the 141st-ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting. The QMJHL product put up a 30-goal season in 2021-22 for Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. Gendron’s 30 markers were a team-best mark and he also recorded 16 assists.
