Flint, Mich. – The Flint Firebirds announced today that Cole Lussier has been promoted to the Director of Hockey Administration while maintaining his role as Video Coach.
“It’s an honor to be back in Flint to build off of our record-breaking season last year,” Lussier said. “I am looking forward to getting back to work with the team and staff as we start building towards opening night on October 1.”
Lussier joined the Firebirds prior to the 2021-22 season as the team’s Video Coach and was quickly elevated to Assitant Director of Hockey Operations. He helped guide the Firebirds to their best season in franchise history.
“It’s great to have Cole Lussier back with our staff this coming season,” GM and Head Coach Ted Dent said. “He is a very important component of our staff and can fill many roles. I’m very happy to be building this program moving forward with Cole along my side.”
Lussier, a native of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., played for the Soo Eagles of the NAHL from 2013-15, followed by a season with the Kanata Lasers (CCHL) before returning back to the NAHL with the Amarillo Bulls in 2016-17. He finished his playing career at Trine University (NCAA) during the 2017-18 season.
The Firebirds staff continues to take shape ahead of the 2022-23 season, set to begin October 1 against the Niagara IceDogs at 7:00 p.m.
