Wisely Nets the OT Winner as Soaring Eagles Sweep Huskies on the Road

GORHAM, ME – The Elmira College Soaring Eagles completed a sweep over the Southern Maine Huskies on Saturday night, winning 3-2 in overtime. Carter Wisely ’25 won the game 41 seconds into the extra session. Ryan Reifler ’24 and Chance Gorman ’24 each finished with a goal and two assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagles took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission thanks to goals from Reifler and Gorman early in the first period. Reifler’s goal was set up by Gorman and Gorman’s marker was assisted by Nathan Young ’25 and Reifler.

The Huskies scored in the second period to bring them within one heading into the second intermission before tying the game at the 2:37 mark into the third period.

Wisely’s game-winner came 41 seconds into overtime, just after an Elmira power play had expired. His goal was set up by Gorman and Reifler.

Brody Haynes ’26 was great in net yet again for the Soaring Eagles, stopping 19 of 21 shots while Kyle Penton turned away 27 at the other end in net for the Huskies.

UP NEXT:
The Soaring Eagles are home next weekend with a back-to-back against the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds. Opening faceoff on Friday night from the Murray Athletic Center is slated for 7:00 PM.
