Coventry Blaze coach Danny Stewart believes the double signing of defensive pairs Max Krogdahl and Nicolai Bryhnisveen will make his team better in the Elite Series.

Both players come to the club from Norway where they’ll look to make an impact on the tournament when it begins in a couple of weeks time.

And the Blaze boss outlined their attributes as he completed his blue line group, highlighting their international credentials.

“We are getting a pair of defencemen that will immediately make us better,” Stewart said. “Both players come from top teams in Norway and both have National team experience.

“We know Nico very well. He skates so well and plays up and down the ice as well as anyone. He competes very hard and has the ability to play in all situations.

“Max comes to us from a very successful organisation. He’s a big, physical D-man that competes hard and is tough to play against. He was a combined +34 the last two seasons and will partner well with Nico.”

Bryhnisveen is back at the club after spending the 2018-19 season at the Skydome and will be a welcome return for the fans.

In his year previously, he made 68 appearances, scoring 15 goals and 32 assists before returning to his homeland where he’s spent the last two seasons at Stavanger Oilers.

The coronavirus pandemic has heavily impacted on the last two seasons, where he’s made 61 appearances and tallied up 21 points all in.

He’ll be joined on the blue line by 22-year-old Max Krogdahl, who joins from Frisk Asker, where he has spent his entire career so far.

He has over 200 appearances to his name and has Champions Hockey League experience after taking part in the competition in 2019/20.

Krogdahl has also been named in Norway’s preliminary World Championship squad for the tournament in Latvia later this year.
