Bruce Boudreau doesn’t think the Leafs are as good as people in Toronto think they are: Leafs Morning Take

This four-game road trip feels like a crucial one for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Losers of three in a row, the Leafs are in Edmonton to tangle with the red-hot Oilers. Connor McDavid and company have won 10 straight games. Talk about a measuring stick game.

We kicked off the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing Montreal’s impressive victory over Colorado on Monday. Martin St. Louis’ squad plays with so much heart. We both agreed that the Leafs can learn a thing or two from their Original Six rival.

Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on the Leafs at the midway point of the season. We each gave a grade letter. Spoiler: We’re both decently hard markers. And rightfully so. This team is so talented. There’s no way they should be this inconsistent. Seriously, it’s been unfortunate to document.

Meantime, thanks to our friends over at BATL Axe, Bruce Boudreau stopped by the show once again. Firstly, we got his assessment of the team at the halfway pole. After that, he gave his thoughts on the William Nylander extension and the current state of the team. Boudreau did a good job of peeling back that curtain on how Sheldon Keefe could be feeling right now.

Additionally, courtesy the Wendy’s Daily Faceoff Survivor, we previewed the Leafs/Oilers game. Any way you slice it, it’s a big one. We’re going to see what the Leafs are made of here. As mentioned, the Oilers have been playing some excellent hockey lately.

Speaking of which, be sure to join us on Wednesday at 11 AM ET for a full recap of that one. Also, ahead of Toronto’s visit to Calgary on Thursday, former Leaf & Flame Matt Stajan will make his LMT debut.
