ALLIANCE spots secured for OHL Cup

Four ALLIANCE teams have advanced to their playoff semi-finals, securing spots at the 2024 OHL Cup presented by FPS Payment that begins on Monday, March 25th in Toronto.

The first place London Jr. Knights, who played to a 20-7-3 regular season record, continue their consecutive run of tournament appearances that dates back to 2015 having eliminated the Kitchener Jr. Rangers in three straight games.

The Jr. Knights prepare to face the Huron-Perth Lakers, who will also make their way to Toronto having defeated the Chatham-Kent Cyclones in a one-game playoff before upsetting the second-place Cambridge Hawks in three straight games. Huron-Perth hit their stride at the right time after placing eighth in the regular season standings with a record of 9-11 with a whopping 10 ties.

The other ALLIANCE semi-final pits the Elgin-Middlesex Canucks against the Sun County Panthers, with both teams advancing to the annual showcase.

Elgin-Middlesex was the third place team in the ALLIANCE regular season, going 15-9-6. The Canucks defeated the Lambton Jr. Sting in four games to advance, while Sun County, who placed fifth during he regular season, eliminated the nearby rival Windsor Jr. Spitfires in four games.

The Jr. Knights have regularly found themselves in the honourable mentions of the OHL Cup Top 10 Rankings throughout the course of the season. Elgin-Middlesex was one of four honourable mentions this past week.
