Despite Sharks’ Assistance, Oilers Don’t Match Offer Sheets

The Oilers received draft pick compensation, and the two players are headed to their new team. St. Louis sent their second and third-round picks for the 2025 NHL Draft.

The Sharks alleviated part of the cap space issue by acquiring Ceci’s $3.25 million cap hit and were also given a 3rd-round pick. In return, San Jose sent Ty Emberson, who reunites with his old AHL head coach, Kris Knoblauch.

The Oilers theoretically replaced Ceci, Broberg, and Holloway with Emberson and Vasily Podkolzin, who was acquired from the Vancouver Canucks in an earlier trade.

Due to the offer sheet process, the Blues cannot trade Broberg or Holloway for one year.
