Welcome to day one of the NHL training camps. Today, the New Jersey Devils took part in the first skate.
The first group included Devils’ young blue liner Simon Nemec, which was surprising to many after he had been dealing with an injury this off-season.
The injury to Nemec happened in the Olympic qualifiers, when he was skating back to his own zone and took some contact, which sent him awkwardly into the end boards.
Nemec was taken to the locker room and never returned. There was speculation that he could miss the start of training camp. However, it seems that he is recovering nicely and is taking part in the Devils camp.
The Hockey News’ own Kristy Flannery is at the Devils training camp and will be providing updates via her Twitter/X account.
