In the New York Rangers’ 3-2 preseason victory against the Boston Bruins on Sunday night, Brennan Othmann showed he could be NHL ready.
He didn’t score any goals or record any assists, but Othmann was all over the ice during the preseason opener.
Throughout the night, Othmann used his 6-foot frame to deliver hit after hit as he was physically dominant.
The 21-year-old used his body exceptionally well, which is an encouraging sign for the kind of player he can eventually transform into.
Othmann had a couple of quality offensive chances, seeming to be comfortable and in command when he was on the ice.
Through rookie camp, Othmann performed at a high level, proving that he’s currently the Rangers’ top prospect who’s in contention to make the opening night roster.
However, for most of training camp thus far, the 2021 first round pick hasn’t practiced with New York’s main group, which is interesting given all the talk of him potentially making the team.
It will still be an uphill battle for the young forward to come out of training camp on the roster, but he’s continuing to make it hard for the Rangers to deny him a spot.
Now, it’s all on Othmann to earn that spot in the NHL.
