Head coach Ryan Warsofsky said the forward will be out week-to-week after getting hurt in training camp.

“Bordeleau is a lower body [injury]. He’s more probably week-to-week,” Warsofsky said. “He’s had a good camp, so we’ll just see how it goes and just take it day-by-day, as we usually will.”

Bordeleau played 27 games in the NHL last season and finished the year on a high note. He scored six goals and five assists. His goal coming into training camp was to prove he belongs to stay at the top level.

“Personally, I’m trying not too much to think about that,” Bordeleau said last Saturday about how big the upcoming season is for his career. “I’ve been playing hockey since I was three years old, and I’m just trying to give it my all every time I come to the rink. For the past two years, I’ve been able to play in the NHL, but this season, I really want to make a statement and show people what I can do for a full year.”

Bordeleau had been skating on a line with Nico Sturm and Ty Dellandrea throughout training camp. He did not play in the Sharks’ first preseason game, but top prospect Quentin Musty skated alongside Sturm and Dellandrea during Sunday’s game.

“It is going to be close,” Warsofsky said about Bordeleau possibly missing the start of the regular season.

2024 No. 1 pick Macklin Celebrini also left practice early with a lower-body injury, but Warsofsky expects him to practice tomorrow.

“[Celebrini is] fine guys. Don’t worry,” Warsofsky told reporters.
