One of the players just so happens to be a former Flyer, as goaltender Felix Sandstrom was placed on waivers by the Buffalo Sabres.
Sandstrom, 27, signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sabres this off-season. With the Sabres having goaltenders Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Devon Levi, and James Reimer all under contract, Sandstrom being placed on waivers is not surprising.
Sandstrom appeared in five games for the Flyers during this past season, where he had a 1-2-0 record, a 3.87 goals-against average (GAA), and a .823 save percentage (SV%). He primarily played with the Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, in 2023-24, posting a 13-7-3 record, a .911 SV%, and a 2.39 GAA.
The Flyers selected Sandstrom as the 70th overall pick of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. In 30 games as a Flyer, he had a 4-18-4 record, a 3.66 GAA, and a .880 SV%.
