If there’s one thing that Stefan Noesen is good at, it’s being efficient at scoring goals.
The 31-year-old forward got the NHL season going, scoring the first goal of the year in the first period of the New Jersey Devils’ game against the Buffalo Sabres in Prauge, Czechia.
Noesen was always a quality goal scorer for the Canes, who he spent parts of three seasons with, having led the AHL in scoring in 2021-22 and picking up 27 goals in 159 games all while averaging around 12 minutes per game.
He had quite a few big moment goals in Raleigh so it’s only natural that he got the NHL season going.
After the Sabres turned the puck over in the defensive end, Noesen found himself all alone in the slot and his teammates wasted no time in getting him the puck.
From there, he turned and fired a shot past Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to not only give his team the early lead but also score the first goal of the 2024-25 season.
Noesen signed a three-year, $2.750 million AAV contract with the Devils this offseason.
