Turcotte Benched In 8-7 Loss to Senators

Yesterday was not a good day for both the Los Angeles Kings and Ottawa Senators. Yes, they scored 15 goals combined, but neither coach was happy about the game.

Kings coach Jim Hiller was especially not happy with how Alex Turcotte played. On a failed clearing attempt by Turcotte midway through the second period, the puck barely made it past the blue line and went to the Senators player, who made a quick pass over the blue line to Zach McEwan, who blasted the puck past Darcy Kuemper from distance.

After this play that many Kings fans describe as an extremely lazy play that led to a terrible goal, Turcotte didn’t play much.

The Kings would go on to lose this game 8-7, with Turcotte only playing 6:40.

Could this be the end for Turcotte? Could the Kings have him in the press box next game and give Akil Thomas the chance to play alongside Andre Lee and Trevor Lewis?

It wouldn’t be shocking to see him being on the outside looking in for the next few games. Hiller was sending a message to him throughout the second and third periods by only playing 6:40. That message will likely be sent next game as well, with Turcotte being a healthy scratch.
