While Jacob Markstrom made 27 saves on 30 shots, Jesper Bratt was heavily involved offensively, assisting on both Devils goals.

Jack Hughes opened the scoring in the first couple of minutes of the second period. The play started in New Jersey’s defensive zone as Bratt beat Hurricanes’ defenseman Jaccob Slavin to the puck and chipped it up along the boards, where Hughes picked it up. A partial two-on-one breakaway emerged, and the center’s wrist shot beat opposing netminder Pyotr Kochetkov.

Per NHL PR, Bratt has collected an assist on 27 of Jack Hughes’ career goals, the most among all players and nine more than the next closest teammate, Dougie Hamilton, at 18.

With New Jersey down 3-1, the Devils had 1:16 of a five-on-three power play with 5:33 remaining in the third period. Bratt faked and quickly passed the puck to Hughes, who moved it to Hischier. The Captain’s wrist shot beat Kochetkov.

By the final horn, Bratt earned his first multi-point game of the season and extended his point streak to five games (one goal, five assists). His career-high point streak is 11 games from Oct. 13, 2022, to Nov. 3, 2022.

According to the MSG Networks broadcast, the Swede has earned 33 points in Octobers since 2022, the third most in the NHL, with 11 goals and 22 assists in 22 games.

The Devils will be back in action on Thursday night when they visit Travis Green and the Ottawa Senators.
