Yesterday, the New Jersey Devils sent Seamus Casey down to the AHL and called up Daniil Misyul.
Not only was it surreal to be called up to the NHL, it was also Misyul’s 24th birthday. Which likely makes this birthday gift the best one yet.
Misyul is a native of Belarus but grew up playing hockey in Russia. He played for Yaroslavl Lokomotiv in the KHL for five seasons before making his way to North America to play with the Devils” AHL team, the Utica Comets.
Misyul will make his NHL debut tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning, as the Devils and the rest of the NHL will take part in the NHL Frozen Frenzy.
