Joseph Woll just needs to go out there & do his thing: Leafs Morning Take

by

Rest assured, Craig Berube’s had this day circled on his calendar since the day the NHL schedule was released in June.

Following their debacle in Columbus, the Leafs are back home to entertain the St. Louis Blues.

Speaking of which, we kicked off the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing the magnitude of Joseph Woll’s return. The 26-year-old has been activated from IR and is set to make his season debut. Suffice it is to say because of his checkered injury history, there’s cautious optimism around the Missouri native right now within Leafs Nation.

Meantime, on Wednesday, Utah announced that both Sean Durzi and John Marino will be out long-term due to injury. Naturally, it would make a lot of sense for them to potentially have interest in trading for Timothy Liljegren. The 25-year-old’s only suited up in one game so far this season for the Maple Leafs.

Brought to you by Prime Video, we previewed the Craig Berube revenge game aka Leafs/Blues. We talked about Woll a little more before transitioning to some money on the board talk. You know Berube wants this one badly. Additionally, we debated special teams a bit, too. The penalty kill has much better lately, but sadly, the same cannot be said for the power play. Through seven outings, Toronto’s 3-for-23 with the man advantage. Ouch.

Then, we took part in another instalment of Take It Or Leaf It. Among the topics, we debated Toronto’s chances of winning the Atlantic Division, Oliver Ekman-Larsson logging the most minutes of any Leafs blue liner this season, and the prospects of William Nylander hitting the 100-point plateau for the first time in his career. For the record, we disagree on all three, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

After that, we answered the Great Clips inbox question of the week. It was about Joseph Woll and what Leafs fans/media see in him. If he can stay healthy, I think the sky’s the limit for Woll. I think he’s awesome, he just needs to stay healthy.

At any rate, be sure to join us for the Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take (11 AM ET). We’ll recap Toronto/St. Louis. Also, we’ll preview Saturday night’s tilt in Boston. Additionally, you’ll hear/see our interview with Arkells front man Max Kerman from earlier this week.
