With long-term injuries to core defenders John Marino and Sean Durzi, the Utah Hockey Club have announced that they have called up right shot defensive prospect Maveric Lamoureux from Tuscon (AHL).

Lamoureux, 20, was the Arizona Coyotes’ 28th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
He has really taken off since making the jump to pro hockey this season with three points (2+1) over his first four AHL games as a primarily defense-first prospect.

He was cut from the NHL team ahead of the final pre-season game as he was in the process from rebounding from shoulder surgeries over his past two seasons. He got in to three pre-season games going point-less, however Utah won two of the three games he played in.
Last season, Lamoureux played his final of four QMJHL seasons — all with the Drummondville Voltigeurs — which was capped off with winning a QMJHL championship – – in a season where he posted a career high 33 points (9+24) over just 39 games as the team’s alternate captain.
Lamoureux tallied 83 points (19+64) across his 152 game major junior career, and also represented Canada at the World Juniors last season as an alternate captain scoring three points (1+2) over five games.
