Young Penguins Forward Back Skating After Concussion

by admin

The Pittsburgh Penguins signed former Los Angeles Kings forward Blake Lizotte on the first day of free agency. However, during the pre-season, the 26-year-old suffered a concussion against the Ottawa Senators at the Kraft Hockeyville game in Sudbury, ON, on Sept. 29.

He returned to practice on Monday in a non-contact jersey.

Unfortunately, ice time statistics from that contest are unavailable, but the newest Penguins skater didn’t stay in the contest past the second period. Pittsburgh would win 5-2, with Lizotte not getting on the scoresheet or registering a shot on goal.

Considering the extent of his injury, he had not participated in a single practice since that weekend and has yet to make his Penguins debut.

The undrafted forward from Minnesota played six seasons with the Kings, signing with the club in 2018. In 320 games, Lizotte has tallied 37 goals and 106 points.

He signed a two-year deal with a $1.85 million annual salary and will boost the Penguins’ bottom six when he returns to the lineup.
