ELMIRA, N.Y. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) and Empire 8 Conference announced its first set of weekly award winners for the 2024-25 season on Monday, with Brody Haynes ’26 earning Goaltender of the Week accolades for Men’s Ice Hockey.
The York, Pennsylvania native made his first start of the season on Saturday for the Soaring Eagles and notched his first career shutout as Elmira tied Oswego State 0-0. Haynes stopped 35 shots, including 15 in the third period, to keep the game scoreless.
Haynes recorded ten saves in the first period and eight in the second. He also recorded two saves in the five-minute overtime period.
The NEHC also recognized Kyle Dann from Albertus Magnus as the Player of the Week and Arvega Hovsepyan from Salve Regina as the Rookie of the Week. The Empire 8 also recognized Spencer Flansburg from SUNY Brockport as the Player of the Week.
Elmira opens NEHC play on the road this weekend with a pair of contests against Southern Maine on Friday at 7:00 P.M. and Saturday at 4:00 P.M.
